Ballet 5:8 Has Opportunities for Dancers at Every Level

By auditioning for Ballet 5:8’s Conservatory Program, Trainee Program, Second Company or one of our Summer Programs. you will take the next step in joining a team of passionate individuals dedicated to pursuing excellence in the art form of ballet, inspiring meaningful conversation of life and faith, and making a difference in our world.

 

Summer Intensive (2, 3 & 5 week programs)

The Choreographic & Professional Intensive allows you to dance & perform alongside company members.

Master Teacher Expertise: Julianna Rubio Slager, National Visiting Fellow at the School of American Ballet and Artistic Director of Ballet 5:8, leads the Summer Programs alongside guest instructors from American Ballet Theater, Pacific Northwest ballet, Houston Ballet, and others.

Diverse Curriculum: The Summer Program covers a broad range of styles, including ballet technique, pointe/pre-pointe, Pas de Deux, Variations, Men’s Allegro, Port de Bras, Modern, Contemporary, Jazz, Acting, Spanish Dance, Composition, Street Dance, and Improv.

Company Repertoire Integration: Students experience Company Repertoire at every level, gaining insights into the professional dance world, including a theater performance with SI Students alongside members of Ballet 5:8 Professional Company.

Wellness and Conditioning: Certified instructors lead conditioning and cross-training classes, including Mental Health Seminars, Pilates, Progressing Ballet Technique, BOSU, strength training, safe stretching, and plyometrics.

Choreography Opportunities: Choreography Intensive program allows participants to create and perform their own works with the Summer Intensive Students.

Chaperoned housing at Trinity Christian College.

Conservatory Program
Looking for exceptional classical ballet training in an environment where students thrive?

This exclusive program equips young artists with the knowledge & foundation to progress to positions in professional companies, college dance programs and dance-related careers.

Trainee & Second Company

Ballet 5:8's Trainee Program challenges aspiring professional dancers to put the finishing touches on their training, while dancing alongside the Ballet 5:8 professional company.

The Ballet 5:8 Second Company is a group of ten young professional artists affiliated with the Ballet 5:8 professional company.

-Second Company positions grant talented artists with professional potential a company experience as a final stepping stone to joining Ballet 5:8 or other professional companies. 

Company

Ballet 5:8 Company Artists are contracted for 32 weeks each season, receive a weekly salary, and attend class and rehearsals Monday-Friday in Ballet 5:8's 12,000 square foot facility in Orland Park, IL. 

-Dancers additionally have access to daily technique class, weekly Strength Training and Yoga, Athletico physical therapy, and chiropractic care for routine support. Company Artists perform with Ballet 5:8 up to 40 times each season around Chicago and across the U.S. on tour. Company Artists also have the opportunity to work with guest choreographers as they create new works commissioned for Ballet 5:8. 

-Apprentice positions are eligible for a per-performance stipend, based on availability.
