Auditions Weekend of November 14th

Webster University has an audition for admittance into the Dance Department on 11/14.

- Degrees offered:

          - BA in Dance

          - BFA in Ballet

          - BFA in Modern

- Audition process has three main components

          - Interview and resume:

                    - Dancers will have an individual interview to discuss dance background and career goals

                    - A dance resume needs to be submitted with application materials

          - Technique class:

                    - Dancers will participate in both a ballet and modern technique class

                    - During check-in, dancers will speak with faculty to decide if they would like to join the intermediate or advanced class or a combination of both

                    - Pointe work is not required

          - Solo performance:

                    - Prepare a solo piece that is two to three minutes in length

                    - Will be performed in the studio after technique class

                    - No tap shoes

- Audition day will also consist of a department tour as well as observing a class and lunch.

Indiana University is accepting video submissions for their Contemporary Dance Program until 11/14.

- Materials should be uploaded to Acceptd and these and more detailed instructions are also available on the Acceptd website.

- All audition material must be received by November 14, 2025 for invitation to the November 21 audition.

- To apply for the BFA, dancers should submit an application to the Indiana University Admissions Office concurrently with the application to the BFA program in Dance

- Dancers cannot receive audition results until they are accepted to the University.

- If invited to live audition, dancers will take a two-hour class and perform a solo.

          - Audition day will also includeIU Contemporary Dance Performance and small group discussion for dancers only, tour of dance facilities and a Q&A for dancers and parents

- Attire:

          - Applicants should dress neatly

          - Long pants are preferred, please no tights or leggings

          - Tops should cover the back and abdomen and not be too tight, or large and bulky

          - Long hair should be secured, no buns please.  

          - For solo performance, applicants may dress in a manner that is consistent with their standard attire

Interlochen Center for the Arts is accepting video auditions for the Dance Major at Arts Academy until 11/15.

- Audition videos will include the following materials:

          - Ballet center work

          - Pointe work (only for dancers with pointe experience)

          - Contemporary

          - Introduction 

- Please record video audition in a studio or stage setting

- Please see link above for specific video requirements

- Attire:

          - Female identifying dancers:

                    - Black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes, hair in an appropriate bun

          - Male identifying dancers:

                    - White fitted T-shirt, black tights, thin white socks, white ballet shoes

- Dancers will also need to submit a photograph taken in a full body pose

University of Utah School of Dance has an audition for admittance into the Dance Department on 11/15.

          - Ballet BFA

          - Modern Dance BFA & Minor

- Audition schedule:

          - Modern Dance BFA & Minor - 9:00am-2:00pm

          - Ballet BFA & Utah Ballet Summer Intensive - 10:00am-12:30pm

- Students must apply for admissions to the University of Utah and audition for the School of Dance major or minor

- Although recommended, you do not need to be admitted to the University of Utah in order to audition

- To sign up for an audition to the School of Dance, please complete the Audition Application via the link above

Mercyhurst University has an audition for admittance into the Dance Department on 11/17.

- Dancers must apply to both the Dance Department and Mercyhurst University

- Once an application to the university is submitted, dancers will be able to fill out the Department of Dance application and submit for an audition. 

- The dance application requirements

          - First arabesque picture en pointe

          - Dance resume

          - Dance essay

- Attire:

          - Black leotard, pink or skintoned tights, ballet shoes, pointe shoes, hair pulled back in a bun or french twist
