The Ballet Scout Update 6/26 - New World Ordering, Search Updates, and more!

Eugene Ryoo - Jun 27th, 2024

Hello Ballet Scout users!

Welcome to the first non-Robert blog post! My name is Eugene, I'm one of the other co-founders of The Ballet Scout, primarily focused on the technical side of things. Today, I'm excited to announce some new updates to The Ballet Scout to assist you all in discovering your next opportunity in dance!

Firstly, we've introduced a new 'upcoming auditions' filter allowing you to filter for ballet programs, jobs, auditions, and organizations with upcoming auditions. If you're looking for a new opportunity now, use this new filter to only check for listings with actively open future auditions. To filter for upcoming auditions, simply click 'upcoming auditions' at the top of each search page. Please note that this is a premium feature requiring a premium subscription.

Secondly, we've updated the look-and-feel of almost all search results. We're trying to strike a careful balance between displaying as much information as possible while not overcrowding each individual search listing. To that end, we've introduced additional functionality allowing listings to be displayed as their own pages for viewing and sharing, as well as viewing additional information on each listing directly in the search page instead of having to externally navigate to the organization's page on The Ballet Scout.

For example, if I found a listing I liked and wanted to send to a friend, I can now click 'share' on the left corner of each search result, which will bring up a popup with the link to that individual page. Check out this listing for 4S Dance Academy, for example.

For clarity's sake, we've also added the last updated date for each listing to avoid situations where stale listings appear to be current. No need to apply for last year's programs!

We're always working to improve the site, so as always please do not hestiate to contact us via our contact page or at contact@balletscout.info with any comments, questions, and concerns.

Thanks everyone and happy hunting!

-eugene
