Auditions Weekend of February 28th!

 

SUNY Purchase has an audition for admittance to The Conservatory of Dance BFA Program on 2/28.

-Acceptance is based primarily on your dance audition, demonstrating:

          - Extensive prior training in modern, contemporary, and/or classical ballet

          - Commitment to dance training and a career in the professional dance field

          - Talent and potential as a performer

          - Musicality

- All dance applications are required to submit the following items via their Admissions Portal prior to signing up for an in person audition. 

- Please do not e-mail these materials to the Conservatory of Dance.

          - Dance Resume

          - Dance Photo; an 8x10 full body shot (a professional photo is not required)

          - One Artistic Letter of Recommendation (must be sent directly from the recommender to [email protected])

- The dance audition class will consist of a Ballet class, Modern/Contemporary combinations in the center and across the floor, and improvisation prompts.

- Following class, the audition panel will select finalists to present their solos in the afternoon. The live audition will conclude with a short interview.

- You will be notified of your admission decision three to four weeks after your audition date if your application is complete and you have paid the audition fee.

 

Long Beach Ballet is accepting video auditions for their 2025 Summer Intensive until 2/28.

- Students must have begun training on pointe to audition for the 3-Week Intensive.

- The 3-Week Intensive includes daily classes (Monday through Saturday) in ballet technique, pointe, and variations, Russian Character, Pilates, Modern, and Contemporary.  

- In addition, there are special classes in performance preparation, including stage makeup, costume tips, pointe shoe care, etc.

- Please complete the pre-registration form via the link above.

- Once the form is complete, upload a video (max 5 minutes) of a classical variation en pointe to your Youtube account

- Please name the video with the dancer’s first and last name

- Be sure to make the video “Unlisted” in the privacy settings

- Once uploaded, please send the link to your video to: [email protected]   

 

Ballet Arkansas has an audition for Company Dancers for the 2025-2026 Season on 3/1.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre is accepting applications for their Teacher Certification Program until 3/1.

- The Ailey Teacher Certification Program: Ailey Horton Technique launches in the summer of 2025 with Level 1 certification (Level 2 is currently in development for later release). 

- This 32-week course begins with a five-day, in-person intensive workshop at AILEY headquarters—The Joan Weill Center for Dance in New York City—during which participants solidify their understanding of the Ailey Horton technique and receive an introduction to the legacies of Lester Horton and Alvin Ailey while building relationships with peers.

- In subsequent weeks, participants continue their study virtually, requiring approximately 6–8 hours per week. 

- Coursework includes further study of Lester Horton’s and Alvin Ailey’s works, tracing the technique’s lineage through their choreography; devising phrase material to explore the technique’s creative potential; planning lessons that build a progression of the fundamentals; and analyzing relevant readings and video materials to deepen participants’ knowledge of the work’s historical significance. 

- This includes a balance of independent study and online group discussion and sharing.

- This course concludes with an assessment of all the material covered in Level 1.

Kansas City Ballet (KCB) has an audition for 2025-2026 Company, Second Company and Trainee Dancers on 3/2.

- Women’s Registration: 9:00 – 10:00 am
- Women’s Class: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

- Men’s Registration: 12:30 – 1:00 pm
- Men’s Class: 1:00 – 2:30 pm

- Considering dancers to fill positions with KCB’s Main Company, KCB II Company, and the Trainee Program,

- Unable to provide work visas for student dancers (KCB II/Trainees) and have a limited number of visas available for our AGMA company.

- Audition Fees:

          - Pre-registration and prepayment of the audition fee are required for all locations. 

          - There is a $25 fee to attend an in-person audition. 

          - All fees are waived with proof of AGMA membership.

          - The application fee is waived for AGMA members. Membership information may be submitted with audition materials.

          - Please note that the Second Company does not include AGMA positions.

- When audition materials are submitted and application fee paid, a confirmation email will be sent to confirm materials have been successfully received.

- All submitted materials will be reviewed by Devon Carney.
