Auditions Weekend of October 3rd



University of South Florida Theater and Dance has an audition for admissions to the Dance Department on 10/3.

- Acceptance as a USF BFA in Dance Major is contingent upon both the acceptance by the University of South Florida and by the Dance Department through the audition process.

- To declare the BFA in Dance, the student must place into at least the level I in both ballet and contemporary dance.

- There is no required audition to declare the BA in Dance or Dance Minor.

- You can audition even if you have not yet submitted your application to USF.

- Prospective dance majors will be required to audition in both ballet and contemporary dance techniques in classes taught by USF Dance faculty. 

- A solo of 90 seconds or less is also required of all prospective BFA dance majors. 

- To attend an audition on campus, please complete the Dance Placement Audition Registration Form (see link above)

- Audition dates will be removed once we have reached our capacity. Please consider another audition date or look at our video audition submission option.

- Audition schedule:

          - 8:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. - Registration in FAD Lobby

          - 8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. - Welcome Meeting with Faculty

          - 9:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. - Warm Up

          - 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. - Technique #1

          - 11: 15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. - Technique #2

          - 12:15 p.m. - 12:45 p.m. - In Studio Showings by Dance Majors

          - 12:45 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. - Lunch Break

          - 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. - Solos (Students may leave after their Solo)

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign has an audition for admission to the Dance Department on 10/4.

- To be eligible for admission to the BFA or BA program, you must complete the university application and audition for Dance at Illinois. 

- Once you have completed both steps, the Office of Admissions and the Department of Dance make a joint decision regarding your acceptance into the BFA or BA program.

- Audition schedule:

          - Registration: 9-9:30am

          - Audition 9:30am-12:30pm

          - Financial Aid presentation for families 10-11am

          - Complimentary lunch at Illinois Street Residence Hall & dorm tour 12:30-1:30pm

          - Informational Q & A with our faculty and current students

          - Krannert Center for the Performing Arts tour

          - Attend an on-stage rehearsal for our upcoming October Dance Concert

- Audition will consist of:

          - Technique portion with various styles and forms, including ballet, modern, African dance and improvisation.

          - Solo composition showing a self-choreographed piece. 

                     - Solo can be no longer than 3 minutes

                     - Should be designed to demonstrate creativity and show abilities as a performer

                     - Can be performed in silence or with music

          - Interview with faculty

American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) has an audition for their BFA in Dance Program on 10/4.

- High school juniors, seniors, and graduates are welcome to audition for acceptance into AMDA’s acclaimed BFA, AOS, and Certificate programs. 

- All auditions are considered for merit-based scholarships to help fund your journey.  

- Please prepare 2 contrasting dance solos (each solo approx. 60 seconds in length). Styles may include: Ballet, Contemporary Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Tap, Ballroom, Hip-hop, Theatre Dance, World Dance, or Contemporary. 

- Applicants may be led through additional movement phrases provided by the AMDA coach facilitating the audition.

- Please dress in appropriate, form-fitting dance attire that shows the line of the body. 

          - Dance attire should allow for natural movement and not distract from your performance. 

          - Footies, soft jazz shoes, ballet shoes, character shoes, sneakers or bare feet are permitted for the performance of your solo. 

          - Please do not wear socks. 

          - Long hair or bangs should be pulled back and away from the face. 

          - Please remove all jewelry before auditioning.

Carole Alexis Ballet Theatre (Ballet des Ameriques) is seeking Company Dancers for the 25/26 Season on a rolling basis.

- Seeking technically proficient, classically trained dancers with great versatility, musicality, and remarkable stage presence who are fast learners.

- Send a cover letter, resume, photos, and video material to the CABT Administrations Department via email: [email protected]

- Your video will be used as a pre-registration. The video should contain the original soundtrack of the music.

          - Your video is reviewed, 

          - You will be scheduled for an in-person audition. 

          - The subject line should include "Carole Alexis Ballet Theatre -  Audition".

          - All applicants must have the proper documentation to work in the U.S. (i.e.: work permit, Green card, U.S. Citizen, etc.) and passport. 

- Position details:

          - Available Positions: three men and two women.

          - Company Dancer and Trainee contracts/agreements will be from June 2025 through July 2026.  Please note that the company performs regularly.

          - Both Company Dancers and Trainees rehearse approximately 9 to 15 hours/week for approximately September to July.  



MuNo Productions is seeking Company Dancers for the 25/26 Season on a rolling basis.

- Audition dance company MuNo-Productions is searching for professional dancers and apprentices based in Germany. 

- Looking for three types of dancers:

          - Classical ballet female dancers:

                     - Excellent skills in handling pointe shoes.

                     - Previous experience in Pas de Deux is advantageous.

          - Ballet, modern, and acrobatic dancers (Male and Female):

                     - Proficient in ballet and modern dance techniques.

                     - Acrobatic skills are highly desirable.

                     - Male dancers should have experience in Pas de Deux.

          - Apprentices:

                     - Young and talented dancers who are still in school or have just finished school and are open-minded to learning various roles.
