Description
The Alma Mater Europaea Dance Academy conducts a higher education study program titled Dance, Choreography and enables students to acquire a BA degree. It is the only accredited tertiary institution in Slovenia that offers a valid first Bologna (BA) degree in contemporary dance and ballet education. The programmes are performed separately with joint classes of theoretical and non-specific subjects. Professors are esteemed and acclaimed international dance educators and pedagogues. The diploma acquired at the Dance Academy offers skills and competences for a successful career in dance as choreographers and dance/ballet teachers. After this BA degree, students can continue their studies to the MA level in artistic and other programs at our Dance Academy or abroad. The duration of the study programs is 3 years (6 semesters) with a total of 180 ECTS credits and the acquired title is graduated dancer / choreographer.

Three year undergraduate study program SOCIAL DANCES offers students a wide range of theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of Social dances. Students are educated and acquainted with the knowledge needed to understand the technique and methodology of work in individual genres. They also expand the range of knowledge through additional professional and practical knowledge. Over the course of three years, students develop as dancers and choreographers, and above all as good educators.

This revised, three-year undergraduate program in jazz dance offers a diverse spectrum of theoretical and practical knowledge of jazz dance and related subjects. Dance and choreography – jazz dance concentration program strives to cultivate an environment to mold a well-rounded dancers with a refined dance technique, who can enhance their knowledge in order to achieve their unique individual goals. The study course of ballet is intended primarily for ballet pedagogues. Until recently, ballet was the only artistic branch in which ballet pedagogues were not required to have a higher education qualification. Since such lack of knowledge has shown to be dangerous for children’s health, positive changes are expected in this field in the future. The study program along methodology of ballet pedagogy, historical and character dances offers the necessary professional and practical knowledge in the field of physical preparation of dancers, preventive dance medicine, physiology, psychology and pedagogy, acting and music, choreology and history of dance, organisation and management in culture, and stage, audio and video technology and other contextual knowledge.
