The program offers pre-professional and professional dancers aged 15 and up the opportunity to further develop their skills and artistry through a two-week, all-day curriculum. Dancers will gain invaluable experience in technique, company repertoire, and the creative process, supporting the caliber and versatility required for a professional contemporary dance company. Participants can expect two weeks of learning and growth as they experience what it is like to work at Ballet BC; a creative hotbed of dance in the Pacific Northwest. In our spacious light-filled studios, dancers will share an inspiring environment while learning from and collaborating with our outstanding company artists, artistic staff including Artistic Director Medhi Walerski, and invited guests.

Each day will start with a morning technique class taught by a Ballet BC artistic team member, ensuring participants are warm and ready for the day that awaits. After a short break, participants will work on two pieces from the company’s repertoire, taught and coached by dancers of the company. These pieces will be worked on for the duration of the intensive, giving participants the opportunity to immerse themselves fully in the unique choreographic languages and style of the works. After a lunch break and the opportunity to eat, rest, and discover some of Granville Island’s offerings, the afternoon will be spent within the creative process itself as participants dive into a new creation, giving them the opportunity to further develop their artistry and build connections with the choreographers themselves. Throughout the program, there will be activities planned so participants get to know one another outside of a studio setting while also getting to know the city of Vancouver. The intensive will culminate with a studio showing for invited guests, followed by a farewell party.
