Session Description

INTERMEDIATE (10yrs+) Our Intermediate Professional Training Program is for the serious/full-time dancer aged 10yrs+ who shows potential in developing high-level skills in Classical Ballet and Contemporary Dance. This program offers young dancers the opportunity to showcase themselves as part of a Junior Corps de Ballet or in children’s lead roles in our seasonal performances/productions. Students gain experience similar to that of a professional ballet company, working together with choreographers, professional artists and directors to produce full-length ballets throughout the year. An audition is required to evaluate physical, mental and emotional attributes needed for classical ballet together with a healthly medical history. All Intermediate students are required to complete the ISTD Imperial Classical Ballet Vocational examinations during their five year training period starting with the Intermediate exam. The program consists of one level: – Level 4 (Intermediate or similar) Most students remain in Level 4 for two years or until they are ready to move into the advanced stages of training and performing. At Intermediate level our students are either starting Pointe or have completed one year of Pointe and are entering into performing enPointe on stage. A Pointe Assessment, designed by physiotherapists, is conducted before any student is invited to start Pointe work. This intense training program prepares boys and girls for the advanced levels of dance in both Classical Ballet and Contemporary. It is essential that students and parents are fully committed to the teaching and guidance of the program in order to maintain its integrity.
