The Ballet Virginia Second Company (BVII) is the final tier of the professional program. Acceptance into the Second Company is by audition only. Each dancer receives up to 23 hours per week of concentrated training that includes ballet technique, modern, pointe, partnering, and variations classes as well as rehearsals. Guest teachers are offered to create a versatile classical ballet dancer. BVII dancers are the corps de ballet for all professional productions. Company dancers often progress to the soloist levels in productions which give them the experience needed for a professional career. This program is designed for the serious dancer age 14 to 20 or by invitation whose goals include a professional career in dance or acceptance to a major College or University dance program. Ballet Virginia’s Second Company, known as BVII, is a pre-professional training opportunity for dancers with the potential and desire to become professional dancers. Students invited to this division concentrate on honing their technique and developing artistry through intensive instruction. BVII students may be invited to Ballet Virginia Company class and rehearsals to understudy company member roles as a trainee.
