24 hours in dance courses, including: DAN 147 - Orientation to Dance (1 ) DAN 170 - Improvisation I (1 ) 18 hours technical studies: options include Ballet Foundations, Ballet Technique*, Pointe Technique*, Modern Foundations, Modern Dance Technique*, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Conditioning for Dancers, Pilates Mat, Pilates Reformer, Yoga, Performance Practicum, Performance, or Improvisation II. *Please note that level placement classes are required for Ballet, Modern, and Pointe courses. 4 hours Dance Theory: DAN 300 - Dance Production I (2 ) DAN 301 - Dance Production II (2 ) DAN 360 - Dance History I (World Cultural Dance) (3 ) DAN 361 - Dance History II (Western Concert Dance and Practices) (3 ) DAN 370 - Elements of Composition I (2 ) DAN 371 - Elements of Composition II (2 ) DAN 375 - Dance Pedagogy (2 ) DAN 460 - Dance and Technology (2 ) DAN 475 - Teaching Methods - Ballet (2 ) DAN 476 - Teaching Methods - Modern (2 ) Note: *A technique class is recommended each semester. *DAN 105 Dance Department Seminar is required each semester a Dance Minor is enrolled in dance courses.
