Description

Established in 1999 by Donna L. Muzio, Founder, and Eddy Toussaint, Resident Choreographer from 1999 to 2002, Brandywine Ballet Theatre is the professional/pre-professional division of the organization, giving emergent dancers an opportunity to perform. In addition to filling principal roles in the Company’s full-length ballets, Brandywine Ballet Theatre members participate in repertory productions featuring archival pieces and new works. To date, Brandywine Ballet Theatre has earned George Balanchine Trust licensing and approval to perform Balanchine pieces including Serenade, Concerto Barocco, Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux, and Valse-Fantaisie. World-renowned guest choreographers that have set new works on Brandywine Ballet Theatre dancers include Matthew Neenan, Ronen Koresh (Koresh Dance Company), Meredith Rainey (formerly Pennsylvania Ballet), Eddie Toussaint (2001 Choreography Gold Medal Performance Winner at the Helsinki International Ballet Competition), and Resident Choreographer Nancy Page. Many Brandywine Ballet dancers have participated in summer scholarship programs with various major companies and arts programs including School of American Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, San Francisco Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet, and Governor’s School for the Arts. Several Brandywine Ballet Theatre dancers have gone on to enjoy careers with Pennsylvania Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, Los Angeles Ballet, and Miami City Ballet, to name a few.
