Audition Description

Thank you for considering the performing arts programs at Dean College! Admission to the Dance or Theatre programs is based on the review of the applicant's academic credentials by the Office of Admissions, as well as a required audition. Students applying to degree programs in Dance or Theatre are required* to complete an audition so that the applicant's ability to succeed within the demanding performance curriculum may be assessed. Prospective students must complete their application for admission prior to participating in an audition. Based on their audition, students who are not accepted to a performing arts program may be admitted to Dean in another major and have the opportunity to re-audition during their freshman or sophomore year. All applicants are required to audition. In the live audition, you will demonstrate your proficiency in ballet, modern, jazz, and tap (optional) in a classroom setting. You do not need to prepare a solo. All those auditioning for admission into the Palladino School of Dance are held to the same standard of excellence, independent of their chosen degree plan. The auditions are facilitated and adjudicated by Schools of the Performing Arts faculty. This audition for admission into the Palladino School of Dance typically lasts four hours. Please come to your audition prepared with the following: A headshot (snapshot quality is fine). A full-body photo of yourself in any dance pose of your choosing. This photo should be of just you (snapshot quality is fine). A dance resume detailing your study objective, your schooling, and your last four years of dance training, including your dance studios' and instructors' names. Please keep this to one page. Proper dance attire for the audition (this will be emailed after registering). You will not receive your audition results on your audition day. The Schools of Performing Arts faculty will provide your evaluation to our Admissions office, where it will be reviewed along with other required application materials.
