This program is for the student who wishes to push themself to the highest level of dancer they can become. Whether the goal is to dance professionally, be accepted to a college program or simply to see what they can achieve when giving their all to their dance education. Dancers 13 years of age and up will be eligible to audition for this program. Allongé consists of technical training five days/week with a total of 15 hours of technique classes. For those wishing to do more, there are optional classes to increase training to six days/week and 18.5 hours of technique classes. In addition, there will be both mandatory and optional rehearsal hours. See below for more details. Dancers who are truly serious about pursuing a professional career should be taking all optional class and performance opportunities as well as discussing the addition of private lessons. Allongé dancers will have to choose whether to be on a modern- or ballet-focused track. All students will be required to take classes in both techniques but will be able to choose the form of dance that holds the greatest interest to them to focus on. Optional classes may be taken outside of the dancer's selected track. All track decisions will be discussed with the school director during semester-end meetings. Dancers will not be allowed to switch tracks mid-semester and should be aware that switching tracks regularly will be discouraged. A transition from the modern track to the ballet track will be difficult if not impossible at a certain point in training. Thus track decisions will not be taken lightly and should be well thought out and discussed as far as effects on future goals and pursuits. Performances All allongé dancers will be required to participate in both Nutcracker and the end-of-the-year showcase (there will be modern and ballet components in both performances). Allongé dancers will also have the opportunity to perform in the mid-March show. Both of these performances will be smaller productions featuring contemporary choreography.
