Description
This year-round, full-day training program is designed to meet the needs of those dedicated students 12-19 years of age who seek the highest standard of classical ballet education to prepare for a professional career. Working daily under Edward Ellison's artistic direction, and his faculty's careful guidance, students develop the essential skills to fully explore and realize their greatest individual potential. This program is based on the Vaganova method, a system of training that is logical, thought-provoking, inspiring and highly effective. There is great emphasis on our men's program, focusing on the development of the power, stamina, and masculinity associated with strong male technique. Along with daily lessons in classical technique, students are immersed in learning the classical repertoire and are exposed to a variety of workshops to develop fluency in various styles of dance.

Ellison Ballet provides dormitory-style housing to all accepted year-round students, conveniently located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Centrally located in Manhattan’s Upper West Side, 850 West End is a convenient walk to Columbia University, Central Park, Riverside Park, grocery stores – Westside Market & Whole Foods, Duane Reade, Starbucks, and many other great shops.850 West End is located just off Broadway and is only a few short blocks from the 103rd Street and 96th Street subway stations! The subway (Local 1 Train and Express 2 & 3 Trains) provides easy access to Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Lincoln Center, The Metropolitan Opera, The Empire State Building, SOHO, Chinatown, Little Italy, Ground Zero and other NYC major attractions; making it an ideal destination for people who love New York City. Ellison Ballet provides chaperones to supervise and live with the residential students throughout their enrollment in the Program. **Please do not call 850 West End directly. ABOUT THE JUNIOR, SENIOR, & MEN'S LEVELS Age Requirement: Open to male and female students ages 12-19. *Exceptional 11-year-olds may be considered. Click for Audition Information Class Location and Hours: Manhattan Movement and Arts Center 248 West 60th Street, New York, NY 10023 Monday-Friday: 10:30am-4:30pm* Curriculum: Ellison Ballet's exceptional Vaganova-based training includes: Classical Technique Separate Men's Class Pointe/Variations Male Variations Pas De Deux Contemporary Conditioning Character Music Workshops Performances Selected Students chosen for International Competitions Levels: Full-day students ages 12-19 are placed in one of three classes: Junior Ladies Senior Ladies Men *Younger students ages 10-13 who are seeking a serious training program but are not yet ready for full-day training should consider auditioning for Ellison Ballet's new year-round Preparatory Level. silhouette of graduate Amber Miller on pointe with leg extended School Calendar: September 2023 - July 2024 Note: The full-day, year-round Professional Training Program runs on a three-semester schedule: Fall Semester 2023: September through December Winter Semester 2024: January through April Spring Semester 2024: April through July *The Spring Semester 2024 includes the summer intensive programs, which are required for full-day, year-round students for program completion and are open to additional students on an audition-only basis. Some Spring Semester weeks may include additional hours beyond Monday-Friday, 10:30am-4:30pm. Tuition 2023-2024: $14,350* *Several payment options available. This rate covers September 2023-May 2024 and does not include tuition for the 2024 summer intensive programs.
