Description

We provide our students with a carefully structured two-year training programme followed by a third year pre-professional programme. The first two years place great emphasis on fundamental core training, enhancing student’s technique and helping them to develop their artistry as well as Contemporary and other type of Dances like Character and Flamenco. In the second year students have the unique opportunity of working with artistic staff of English National Ballet and performing in the My First Ballet series in London and around UK, this production will give the student all valuable tools that a professional dancer need to join a company nowadays. Our third year is designed for performance experience and audition preparation. Whilst continuing their studies of all the core disciplines, students will also have the opportunity to rehearse, perform and tour with English National Ballet and other national and international companies, take classes and receive coaching from eminent guest teachers and dancers, and learn and perform historical and current repertoire by renowned international choreographers. Artistry is one of the key elements of our training programme, therefore from the moment students join our School they will be encouraged to take part in the variety of performance events on offer. Twice a year we hold School performances. Past projects have included performances at Private Drama's Corporate events, Chelsea Flower Show, Tate Britain, Big Dance, London Olympics, the Queen’s Garden Party and Move It, the UK’s largest dance exhibition. In December, we present a showcase in our studio theatre. At the end of our summer term, we present a fully curated programme at a prestigious London theatre, providing students with the opportunity to perform a mix of existing classical and contemporary repertoire and specially choreographed work, created and taught by professional choreographers and repetiteurs. Our second-year students have the unique opportunity to perform in English National Ballet’s apprentice touring company. Our students perform a bespoke professionally choreographed ballet commissioned and produced by the Company. Its performances allow students to tour throughout the United Kingdom and learn first-hand about the demands of being in a professional ballet company. Students will be coached and rehearsed by English National Ballet artistic staff, giving them a valuable insight into the creation of a new ballet. Working with the technical staff touring with students gives them the bonus of understanding the technical elements required to deliver a new production. This apprentice touring company provides a performing opportunity exclusive to English National Ballet School. Our third year is designed for performance experience and audition preparation. Whilst continuing their studies of all the core disciplines, students will also have the opportunity to rehearse, perform and tour with English National Ballet, take classes and receive coaching from eminent guest teachers and dancers, and learn and perform historical and current repertoire by renowned international choreographers.

Session Description

Central to the course is daily ballet class; in addition, students study pointe work, character, virtuosity, pas de deux, repertoire and variations, choreography, contemporary, and specialist coaching and individual training sessions. Students also study dance history, Benesh notation, music and anatomy. There are also opportunities to work with guest teachers and participate in workshops in different dance forms throughout the year. In addition, we regularly welcome renowned national and international Artistic Directors to visit and observe our students. Our training and curriculum concentrate on the technique and style of dancing required by both English National Ballet and other companies around the world. We pride ourselves on producing strong, individual dancers who embrace artistry, musicality, and versatility. We also offer a structured choreographic course with esteemed performance opportunities. The Pilates method of body conditioning, upper body strength training and floor barre, are all taught to help students understand their own individual physique. These core disciplines are supported by a programme of physical fitness.
