Opulent pictures, sensual and exciting subjects as well as expressive devotion to movement and dance - this is what the ballet of the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz under the direction of its director Karl Alfred Schreiner is dedicated. Since the foundation of the former Actien-Volkstheater at Gärtnerplatz in 1865, the ballet has been an integral part of the ensemble and significantly shaped its artistic profile in the course of its eventful history. Ballet directors of the company were among others Werner Stammer, Günther Pick, Ivan Sertić, Philip Taylor and Hans-Henning Paar. Karl Alfred Schreiner has been artistic director of the ballet of the Staatstheater at Gärtnerplatz since the 2012/2013 season.
