Hedwig Dances creates visually stunning performances that connect cultures, provoke wonder, and spark big ideas. Helmed by Founder and Artistic Director Jan Bartoszek, recipient of the 2024 See Chicago Dance Legacy Award, Hedwig is known for its mission to mentor artists, cultivate community, and perform innovative dances. Throughout its 40-year history, Hedwig Dances has garnered critical acclaim for its experimental, process-driven approach to dancemaking. *Hedwig Dances seeks outstanding dancers with multi-year professional performance experience for its upcoming season. *Interested dancers must be able to work in and contribute to this highly creative and collaborative rehearsal environment. *Well-honed skills in somatic, partnering, improvisation,and floor work techniques are essential. *Candidates must be available for weekly rehearsals: Mondays and Wednesdays 10am-2pm and Thursdays noon-4pm during the contract period: October 15 to November 15, 2025 and January 15 to April 30, 2026 (Dancers may be called for additional rehearsal hours based on seasonal performance schedule. Rehearsals subject to modification.) *Call backs and interviews will be scheduled for late September, following Hedwig Dances’ return from its German tour.
