Description

The Professional Program is designed for students who meet the artistic expectations set forth by the Artistic Director, Stanton Welch AM and for those students interested in a professional career in ballet. This does not exclude students who wish to enter college, however students must be prepared to focus on training as a priority along with meeting the artistic requirements set forth by the Artistic Director. Therefore all students are either required to audition or are invited to the program by the Artistic Director and/or Academy Director.

Description:

CHAPERONED HOUSING :Houston Ballet's chaperoned dormitory is located conveniently in the Center for Dance. The dormitory has space for 16 students and a live-in chaperone. The Center for Dance Dormitory is offered by invitation only from the artistic staff. Rent is approximately 850.00 USD per month.NON-CHAPERONED HOUSINGThere are many apartments within a 4 mile radius of the Houston Ballet Center for Dance. Many students live in the River Oaks area, where rent is less costly, and use the METRO bus system or bicycles for transportation to and from the Center for Dance. Rent ranges are dependent upon which area students choose. Apartments within walking distance are Hogg Palace and Post Rice Lofts. Houston Ballet in partnership with Market Square Tower leases 10 apartments to 20 students. Housing at Market Square is offered by invitation only from the artistic staff.Houston Ballet Academy does not provide relocation or housing assistance for students in the Pre-Professional Program.

Pro I is designed to elevate a student’s foundation, preparing them for performance. In Pro II, performance goals and career planning are added to accelerate professional career readiness.
