Illinois Classical Ballet does not teach the syllabus based on the Vaganova Method. Neither we modify it nor incorporate it with different styles. Students of Illinois Classical Ballet receive the same training as students of Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet, the way Vaganova created it and preserved it by her pupils who became legendary ballet teachers such as Vera Kostrovitskaya, Vera Volkova, Natalia Dudinskaya, Irina Kolpakova, Tatyana Vecheslova, Irina Gensler and others. Vaganova method is an extraordinary system that permits to develop the knowledge of how oneβs body should be used to dance with expression, yet without injuries like the best Russian dancers do. Ballet technique combines elements of French, Italian, and earlier Russian techniques, and a training method to teach it. The Vaganova method is a ballet technique and training system devised by the Russian dancer and pedagogue Agrippina Vaganova (1879 -1951). It fuses elements of traditional French style with the athleticism and virtuosity of Italian technique and classicism of Russian style The training system is designed to involve the whole body in every movement, with equal attention paid to the upper body, legs, and feet. Vaganova believed that this approach increases consciousness of the body, thus creating a harmony of movement and greater expressive range. The main principle of the Vaganova method is: all training can be encompassed and displayed in the course of one grand pas de deux The training regime for the Vaganova method is complex and rigorously planned to produce a clean, virtuoso technique. Due to its strictly codified training system, the Vaganova method is widely considered to be injury-free, if taught correctly. β Illinois Classical Ballet is a pre-professional ballet school with students participating in all prestigious International ballet competitions, committed to providing world-class classical ballet training to its students and launching the next generation of dancers into the world stage We believe that every student deserves the opportunity to explore his or her fullest potential, and strive to make classical ballet training accessible to all talented students who have the desire to dance Students at Illinois Classical Ballet receive the same training as students of Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet.
