Impermanent Gallery, a new dance company under the artistic direction of Jules Rizzo and the logistical development of Alex Pruitt, will begin its first season in September 2025 and continue through early June 2026. This is a part-time (classes 3 days per week) contemporary dance company located in Summerville, SC right outside of Charleston, SC. Impermanent Gallery began as a collective based in Columbus, OH in January of 2025 and has quickly gained recognition as a way to give emerging choreographers a chance to show their work. Our mission has not changed, it has just been scaled differently. We are still geared toward emerging artists, but we will work with a group of 12-16 dancers to create new work by both Jules Rizzo and the dancers themselves, as part of the mission to lift up emerging choreographers. With a focus on both dance and choreography, we will help propel the next generation of dancers and choreographers into the professional realm of the dance industry, not only through dance classes and choreography labs, but through monthly professional development workshops. Since we are committed to lifting up choreographers, we will commission emerging choreographers outside of Impermanent Gallery through an application process, and they will be able to set work on professional contemporary dancers with financial compensation.
