Video Requirements:
Please prepare the following materials:
A photo of yourself. It can be a formal or casual photo.
Chronological list of dance training and dance performances from 8th grade to most recent. Don’t forget to list your teachers, any companies you performed with, and where your training and performances took place. A resume is also acceptable.
A 30 second clip of your dancing. It can be formal or informal, i.e., a stage performance, studio phrase, or home improvisation. Choose something that you feel demonstrates your best qualities as a dancer; any genre is suitable.
Essay: Please write three to five sentences for each of the following questions:
Describe an artist, choreography, or company that changed what you know about dance. What was different, and how did it change your mind about what dance is, or what dance can do?
What is another academic, service, or artistic interest of yours and how does it influence your approach to dance, or not?
What are some myths about dance that you held, and how have your ideas changed?
What are the ways that you notice you learn best? Do you need time to reflect, to witness others, or to repeat movements to grow as a dancer?
Describe the relationship between music and your dancing. What styles of music do you identify with and appreciate? How might you grow in your musicianship?
