With Artist Faculty Rena Butler, Tamisha Guy, Mike Tyus For 36 dancers and dance makers of all genres, ages 18+. Dancers must be age 18 on the day of arrival; no exceptions. Remaining steadfast to your purpose in dance and having the confidence to continue in an ever-changing world is a discipline. Unlock the artistic practices and approaches that will nurture your capacity to be a creative collaborator, innovator, leader, entrepreneur, and community-builder under the guidance of Maleek Washington. Sessions will include multi-genre dance techniques, choreographic research workshops, collaborative choreographic assignments, guest artist seminars, viewing and discussing dance works and choreographic influencers, time in the Jacob’s Pillow Archives, and reflective and processing sessions to define your unique purpose in dance. When you finish this program, you will walk away with a renewed sense of purpose, experience dancing at a high professional level, a video that you can add to a portfolio of choreographic work, and, of course, a network of collaborators. Participants will be featured in a creative short film documenting the process—crafted by professional videographer Luca Renzi—to celebrate their growth and honor their artistic voice.
