JOBURG BALLET SCHOOL AUDITIONS Children aged 6 to 11 are invited to audition for the Joburg Ballet School. The audition is a basic assessment of natural abilities and general aptitude for dance. Audition Dates & Venues: Mon 8 Dec 14:30-16:00: Alexandra (3 Square Sport Stadium, 13th Ave.) Tue 9 Dec 14:30-16:00: Soweto (Uncle Tom's Hall, Maseko Str., Orlando West) Thu 11 Dec 14:30-16:00: Auckland Park (University of Johannesburg Arts Centre) Sat 13 Dec 10:00-12:00: Braamfontein (Joburg Ballet, 26 Hoofd Str.) Sat 17 Jan 10:00-12:00: Braamfontein, Final audition (Joburg Ballet, 26 Hoofd Str.) To register please provide the following: • Child's name • Child's age • Any previous dance training? • If yes, what is the highest grade/level achieved and with which methodology? • Which school would be nearest to you (Alexandra, Soweto, or Auckland Park)? Should your child be successful, the following fees apply (subject to change): Registration: R300 (This once-off payment includes uniform) Monthly Class Fee: R200 Fees payable to the school's bank account; details will be sent. Audition Attire: Students to attend audition in clothing that allows movements to be seen such as leggings and one-piece swimming costume, leotard and tights, or tight-fitting t-shirt with short pants. No shoes, only socks or bare feet. Class Schedule: The School does not have classes on Saturdays. Students are expected to attend classes 3 times a week in the afternoons; the earliest class is at 14:45-15:30. Please think about the plans you will have to make for afternoon classes, keeping academic school commitments and extramural activities in mind. Saturdays are reserved for Monthly Parents Meetings, extra lessons, rehearsals, special events and performances. This usually takes place between 10:00 and 13:00. The School does not close during academic school holidays. Classes continue and students are prepared for quarterly internal assessments.
