Minnesota Ballet Theatre was founded in 2014 by Svetlana Gavrilova and Kirill Bak-Stepanoff, both graduates of Vaganova Ballet Academy in St. Petersburg, Russia. Company's debut, The Nutcracker, an authentically Russian classical ballet set to Tchaikovsky’s timeless music and the original Marius Petipa choreography, is staged every year for the winter Holiday Season. Other productions, such as Peter and the Wolf, Carnival of the Animals, Great Halloween Adventure, Paquita and Les Sylphides (Chopiniana) are also part of MBT's repertoire.
