The NBA Ballet was founded in 1993 to bring a breath of fresh air to the industry. Since then, while its repertoire includes most of the most famous classical works, it has also been actively involved in inviting the world's leading choreographers to perform contemporary works. It continues to present cutting-edge works, such as the Japan premiere of "Dracula" in 2014, Koichi Kubo's version of "The Pirates" in 2018, the Japan premiere of "The Little Mermaid," which was a huge success in the United States, Koichi Kubo's version of "Swan Lake" in 2019, and Johan Kobø's new production of "Cinderella" in 2021.
