Description

Like our Two and Four Year programs, the Two Year Post-Graduate Program is fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Dance and students successfully completing the two years are awarded a Diploma. This program offers students additional technical and performance training in a performance-oriented student company prior to auditioning for a professional company or college dance program. While many Nutmeg students who participate and graduate from our Two and Four year programs elect to stay for another year or two as a Post-Grad, a student need not attend our high school age residency programs in order to attend the Post-Grad Program. Post-grad students, having completed high school, have the opportunity to design an individual program of study during morning hours at The Nutmeg. Students have enrolled in college courses; found employment in the area; designed fitness regimens that have included the local YMCA and area yoga and Pilates studios; and, when available, completed work/study tasks at The Nutmeg. Additionally, the post-grad students are used, at the discretion of the artistic faculty, in various community performances.

Description:

The Nutmeg knows the importance of a positive living environment in the development of the overall student, and dormitory life plays and important role in this. Efforts are made to provide opportunities designed to enhance the social aspects of being a student at Nutmeg and our students build lifelong friendships while living and training at The Nutmeg. Students engage in many activities in their down time which are not directly related to dance. Such opportunities have included field trips to cultural events, themed formal events, seasonal decorating parties, movie nights, dining out and area shopping trips, Halloween Hay rides, trips to amusement parks, and toy drives for area service providers. Additionally, the students are encouraged to play active roles in the Nutmeg Student Council and the creation/publication of a year book.
