Description

Students accepted into Oklahoma City Ballet’s Trainee Program will receive intensive classes to refine technique as well as mentorship on how to successfully pursue a professional dance career. Classes include ballet technique, pointe, variations, partnering, modern technique, jazz technique, character, and Progressing Ballet Technique. Trainees rehearse and perform repertoire by Artistic Director Robert Mills in addition to choreography created by the Artistic Staff. Performance opportunities include Winter Showcase, and The Yvonne Chouteau School Spring Performance. Additionally, Trainees may be selected to appear in Oklahoma City Ballet’s main stage productions and community engagement performances with Oklahoma City Ballet’s Studio Company. The comprehensive Trainee Program further includes Dancer Wellness and Audition Process Seminars. This is a tuition based program. These programs are invitation only and a tuition fee applies. Students will be notified of their acceptance before the end of the Summer Intensive. Trainee Program applicants who have not completed high school must make arrangements for continuing academic studies.

Session Description

Students accepted into Oklahoma City Ballet’s Trainee Program will receive intensive classes to refine technique as well as mentorship on the successful pursuit of a professional dance career. Classes include ballet technique, pointe, variations, pas de deux, modern technique, jazz technique, contemporary dance/improvisation, character dance, and conditioning. The comprehensive Trainee Program further includes Dancer Wellness and Audition Process Seminars. Trainees rehearse and perform Oklahoma City Ballet repertoire in addition to choreography created by the Artistic Staff. Performance opportunities may include being selected to perform in Oklahoma City Ballet’s main stage productions, community engagement performances with Oklahoma City Ballet’s Studio Company and in The Yvonne Chouteau School Spring Performance. In addition, Trainees will participate in the BRIDGE Choreography Initiative (BCI), where they have the opportunity to gain experience in choreography, marketing, stage management, rehearsal direction, and company management. This is a tuition based program.
