8:30 a.m. The audition will take place in the Dance Program studios on the SJSU campus. Please come to Washington Square Hall / Room 104 by 8:30am to begin the registration process. The audition classes will be led by SJSU dance faculty and will include elements of a Ballet, Contemporary and Jazz class over two hours (40 mins each). Students will be observed by a panel of 2–3 faculty during the audition class. BFA candidates will be asked to present a 1-2 solo. The faculty will conduct a short interview following the solo audition. The audition will begin as close to 9am as possible once registration is complete; the schedule will be adhered to as much as possible. Plan to be done by 12pm if you are auditioning for the BA and 2pm if you are sharing a solo for the BFA audition.

How to Apply to the Dance Program Applying as a potential dance major is a four-step process: Apply to SJSU via CalState Apply. Check the Office of the Registrars' Application Central for current deadlines. After you're accepted to SJSU, reply to the email you'll receive from the Program in late December/early January about auditions Audition for the Program — In person auditions for AY25/26 will be February 13, 2026. After you receive your audition results, go to your @SJSU address and select "Intent to Enroll"
