Staatstheater Cottbus

The Cottbus Ballet is the only theater-owned ballet company in the state of Brandenburg. Dirk Neumann directs the company, which consists of eight dancers and collaborates with renowned guest choreographers such as Adriana Mortelliti, Giorgio Madia, Nils Christe, Lode Devos, Manuel-Joël Mandon, and Mauro de Candia. He also places great importance on preserving the choreographic legacy of the late Uwe Scholz. Another particular focus for him is the promotion of emerging choreographers. The repertoire, presented in two to three independent productions each season, ranges from neoclassical to contemporary. As part of the Brandenburg Theater Association, the ballet regularly performs in Brandenburg an der Havel and Frankfurt an der Oder. International tours have taken the ensemble to cities including Novara (Italy) and Zielona Góra (Poland). A long-standing tradition is the annual ballet gala, featuring highlights from past seasons and new choreographies.
