AUDITIONS
Sydney Dance Company welcomes remarkable dancers to apply to audition on Gadigal Country (Sydney, Australia) on Saturday 28 February and Sunday 1 March 2026.
We are seeking dancers of exceptional talent and artistry for the opportunity to contribute to the future of one of the world’s leading contemporary dance ensembles.

Led by Artistic Director Rafael Bonachela, our 17-strong ensemble is internationally recognised for virtuosic contemporary work that moves audiences and showcases its unique choreographic perspective on the global stage.
Our repertoire includes Bonachela’s own original works alongside diverse commissions and collaborations with leading choreographers and composers from Australia and overseas. Recent programs feature Stephanie Lake, Tra Mi Dinh, Melanie Lane, Antony Hamilton, Stephen Page, Alexander Ekman, Ohad Naharin, William Forsythe, Gideon Obarzanek, Marina Mascarell, Gabrielle Nankivell and Cheng Tsung-lung, as well as collaborations with Sydney Festival, Australian Chamber Orchestra, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Conservatorium of Music Composing Women and composers Bryce Dessner, Nick Wales, 48nord, Clark, and the late Ezio Bosso.
To be invited to audition, you must have professional dance experience and be 18 years or over. You will need solid technical grounding in at least one dance style. Successful applicants will ideally also have experience and skill in the following areas:
Performing contemporary dance works
Training in ballet and contemporary dance
Strong stage presence
Devising movement through improvisation and tasking
Partnering
Dedication to developing your artistic craft
Curiosity and enthusiasm for repertory work and all types of creative processes
A commitment to contributing to a value-driven, collaborative working environment.
