At UNL, our focus is on modern dance -- the dance of today. If you want a comprehensive experience in modern dance, including technique, improvisation and choreography, you will find a community of kindred artists here. Of course, you will study ballet and other important dance traditions, but our core interest is in modern dance. As with all BA degrees in the Glenn Korff School of Music, the BA in Dance provides thorough professional preparation while allowing the greatest curricular space for electives or a second major. A minor is required for the BA degree. Our balanced and integrated curriculum teaches the cultural, theatrical, and performing aspects of dance. It emphasizes the development of working methods that are both safe and correct as it encourages you to explore and develop your personal artistry. *Dance majors and minors must successfully complete an audition.
