Description

The Bachelor of Arts in Dance Studies provides students with a liberal arts-focused education in dance, allowing for flexibility in creating an educational experience tailored to individual strengths and the pursuit of multiple majors. The Bachelor of Arts Dance major, requiring 122 semester hours, with 50 in dance, is an option for students interested in a double major. BA students take studio technique courses in contemporary dance, ballet, and African dance, with elective courses in tap, jazz, capoeira, performance, technology for dance, and somatic practices. In addition, all students complete courses in improvisation/choreography, dance production, somatics, and dance history. Students electing to take a double major often pair the Dance major with another major in Arts Administration, Pre-Sports Medicine, Kinesiology, Elementary or Special Education, among many other complementary disciplines. BA students in dance can also choose to add NC K-12 Standard Professional I Licensure to their degree program. Additional courses are required.
