Description

Our three programs will provide the opportunity to dive into personal artistic identity, explore and expand into new ways of thinking and moving, and develop professional skills necessary for pursuing a life in dance and the arts. Participants may apply to attend a single two week session or multiple. Whim W’Him’s intensives provide a unique window into the vast world of contemporary dance. With the shared knowledge of our faculty, a repertoire of over 100 works from internationally-renowned choreographers, and a commitment to nurturing community through contemporary dance, participants will gain knowledge, experience, and a network of support. Faculty include Founder & Artistic Director Olivier Wevers, Company Manager & Director of Education Karl Watson, Guest Artist and Choreographer Nicole von Arx, Whim W’Him company members, and Whim W’Him Contemporary Dance Center faculty. Explore the dynamic choreographic worlds of Whim W’Him and choreographer Anne Plamondon. We will -Focus on process during creative workshops and repertoire classes with Anne Plamondon -Take daily technique classes with Anne and the artists of Whim W’Him in addition to classes in floorwork, improvisation, and more -Explore existing Whim repertoire with the Whim W’Him artist -Connect and collaborate with fellow dancers, Whim W’Him artists, and Anne Plamondon

Session Description

Be immersed in the world of Whim W’Him with a focus on our repertoire as well as our unique approach to contemporary partnering. This session offers the opportunity to explore the expansive creative environment the company has built. – Work with Artistic Director & Founder Olivier Wevers, Company Manager & Director of Education Karl Watson, and Whim W’Him company members. – Learn repertoire and partnering from the company’s past creations. – Take Whim Ways classes focusing on Wevers’ unique approach to movement and partnering – Take daily technique classes as well as additional classes in improvisation, floorwork, and more. – Refine your audition materials and skills with seminars from artistic staff.

Session Description

Our third workshop, Whim W'Him Open Experience, is an open level exploration of Whim's unique technique and trainings without any audition requirements. ⁠ Designed for dancers who are currently training or who have trained in a pre-professional environment in the past, this program offers you a window into the Whim experience in a welcoming, supportive environment. – Take daily technique classes as well as classes in floorwork, improvisation, and more. – Explore repertoire taught by company members, Company Manager & Director of Education Karl Watson, and Founder & Artistic Director Olivier Wevers. – Participate in seminars and workshops addressing injury prevention, the choreographic process, and careers in the arts. – Classes will be held Monday, July 21st to Friday, July 25th and Monday, July 28th to Friday, August 1st. A studio showing will take place on the 1st for family and friends.
